Jarrah Ply Brady 14" x 5.5" snare drum from 2005. This drum was originally a silver metallic finish with silver metallic powder-coated hardware. Due to a major ding in the lacquer finish, the shell was stripped down and refinished in a waterborn satin lacquer. The hardware was also stripped down back to the original chrome plating. There is one small chip in the finish under the badge. Otherwise, the drum is in great shape and sounds fantastic!
I refinished the drum about four years ago. It was my first drum using this particular brand of finish; it’s not 100% perfect but it’s far from a poor job (I have just learned how to work with this finish better over the years; it needs some grain filling and a longer cure time before final wet sanding and polish.)
I thought about giving the dum a good final wet sand up to 1200 grit and a final satin coat now that I know the finish is plenty hard, but I don’t have the time right now and just figured I would take a few hundred off the asking price instead.
